IGP says cops to arrest those with pro-Bersih ‘shoes, cars, buses’

By Yow Hong Chieh ,June 29, 2011 ( The Malaysian Insider)

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — The police will not only arrest those sporting Bersih T-shirts but may also take action against anyone using any medium to promote the illegal rally, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has said.

“Not just T-shirts but shoes, cars, buses. If these are the tools used to encourage people to gather (illegally), this amounts to sedition,” Tan Sri Ismail Omar told reporters at Bukit Aman police headquarters here today.

Earlier today, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein declared T-shirts bearing messages in support of Bersih illegal as they were related to an illegal assembly.

He, however, did not specify the legal provision that the garments were deemed to have breached.

Ismail explained that it was the duty of the police as the “protectors of society” to safeguard public order and national security, which he said would be in jeopardy if the Bersih 2.0 rally were allowed to take place.

“Based on PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) intelligence ... if this rally is held, tension, chaos, the destruction of property, injury and even loss of life may occur,” he said.

“PDRM will not allow any individual or certain parties to do anything that could trigger chaos and anarchy.”

He added that the police have received information that foreign elements were poised to exploit the chaos that would “very likely” result from the rally but declined to reveal their identity or if they were working with opposition parties.

Ismail also warned Bersih organisers and supporters not to take advantage of his civil treatment of them so far to continue “inciting” the public to take part in the illegal rally.

“I am still being civil at this point but don’t force me to go to the next stage,” he said.

“Just watch ... There have been arrests but you will see further action if anyone still dares to break the law.”

Ismail revealed today that a total of 1,830 police reports were lodged between June 6 and June 28, while 101 people have been arrested over the last four days, 45 of whom are still in custody.

He said the police will take further action when necessary against those detained, in accordance with the procedures and laws of the nation.

I want!!!.... NO! …. I demand clean and fair election!!!

I want!!!.... NO! ….  I demand clean and fair election!!!
This is my right under our constitution and as a citizen of our country. Organization, association, political party, NGO, government of today, government body, government department and any person does not have the right to say no to my rights. I am not an expert or a lawyer in regarding our constitution. But it doesn’t mean I’m stupid and dumb. And I have right to demand for my rights. Did I said something seditious or wrong according the rule of law??? Well I know I did not!!!!

Today I open my Facebook and I saw a photo of Dato Ambiga with lots of racial hatred written under need. I asked to myself: Why??? Why so much hatred? Why so many people hate Indian citizen? Why hate clean and fair election? What Indian citizen does to Malay Citizen? Why write such a dirty words? What happen to Malay culture? What happen to Islamic value? Why accusing her such a thing? And lots question come to my mind as I read all the comments by different people. I straight away blocked this person from my friend list.

Anybody racial is not my friend. For me every person in this earth is my friend. I see them equal as me. No races boundaries.  Don’t care what their skin calour are. As long they think like me. No racist please.

Coming back to my Facebook photo and its comments, lots of people in Malaysia are becoming communist and terrorist. Communist because they hate clean and fair election and forgetting about Islamic value. Terrorist because they giving outs treats and terrorizing to people who are only asking for their constitutional rights.

Hey I am not a supportive of any political party or the government of today, but I love my country. There is a different between government and country. We can hate our government and love our country. Both don’t mix together. And I am not less patriotic because I hate the government of today.

Governments of today are Barisan National (BN).  BN should support clean and fair election. By doing so BN will get more support from us. You will not lose in the next election. If you lose also, you will lose like a man and with dignity.

If you see our neighbor country Indonesia, they are more democratic than us. They have clean and fair election since former President Suharto step down. They use indelible ink and no postal votes like in Malaysia. And because of this Golkar lost the election, but they lost with dignity. If you see now Golkar is gaining more supporters. New young leaders emerged in Golkar. More people a proud to be a Golkar member.

I think UMNO Youth should support this BERSIH movement on 9th July. By doing this more young and vibrant youth will join UMNO Youth. UMNO Youth should declare war against corruptions and all the unfairness happening in this country. UMNO Youth also must show what unity all about is and hate racism. UMNO youth also and very important abolish ISA and all the unfairness law in our system. If you do this, you definitely get my vote.

We can talk and talk about all the negative aspect of our country. There is some positive too in our country, but we see all the negatives has overcome the positives. This is sad, very sad moment for this country. But whatever it is…….

Life goes on…….

Website attacks part of Bersih rally, says Rais

June 17, 2011 (The Malaysian Insider)

KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 — Information, Communications, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Rais Yatim today expressed belief that yesterday’s mass attacks on local websites may be connected to the upcoming Bersih rally.

Earlier, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili told reporters that initial investigations showed 90 per cent of attackers who participated in the attacks were based in Malaysia.

Today, Rais described the cyber attacks as politically-motivated and intended to disrupt the workings of the government, but did not provide details as to how the denial of service attacks were related to the July 9 rally pushing for electoral reforms.

“If for example a land authority website is hacked, then property transactions will be interrupted. The same goes for banking and others; these cyber attacks are strange and, sadly, politically motivated,” he said in a press conference today.

Rais also said the cyber attackers will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and urged those involved to not damage the country out of anger towards the government.

Operation Malaysia, launched by the international hacker group known as Anonymous, had succeeded in bringing down its main target, malaysia.gov.my, at about 4am yesterday.

But it also spawned attacks on other sites, with the government stating that 60 per cent of the estimated 200 sites belonged to the federal administration.

Prior to conducting Operation Malaysia, Anonymous named the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission’s recent move to block file sharing sites like Pirate Bay and whistleblowers WikiLeaks as “inexcusable” acts of censorship that took away “basic human rights.”
